WASHINGTON, D.C., USA — On Tuesday night, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. held its 37th Annual Candlelight Vigil to honor 345 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The solemn event brought the total number of names etched into the memorial’s marble walls to over 24,000, serving as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers across the nation.
Burnsville Officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, and Minneapolis Officer Jamal Mitchell are among the 345 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
